What is BuzzTown.com?
BuzzTown.com is the online directory and local business resource by Directory Plus, the Southwest region's most popular phonebook.

BuzzTown is a completely unique approach to business marketing and for sharing with friends, the pleasure of a job well done. While BuzzTown offers the most complete business directory in the area, it also includes powerful tools for business and customers to interact, improve buying experiences and succeed.

How do I sign up?

It’s easy! Simply click the big orange “Join Now” button on the upper-right of the homepage, select if your would like a personal or business account and fill out the information you would like on your profile. You will then receive a confirmation email with a link to activate your account. And just like that, you’re ready to review!

How do I change my user name?

When you sign up for a free user account you have the opportunity to select your username which stays with you and cannot be changed. If you plan to use the site for business and networking, we suggest you use your real name, at least your first name.

How much does it cost?

For regular users it’s free! All of your favorite businesses are just waiting to be reviewed!
For business owners, there are many different products and options for you to choose from. Contact a BuzzTown Internet Product Specialist for details.

Where is BuzzTown?
BuzzTown is run out of the offices of Directory Plus in Durango, Colorado. We work and live in Southwest Colorado just like you!

Is this the phone book?
Sorta. BuzzTown is the online version of the Directory Plus customer database tailored to help you find what you are looking for and help businesses better help you.

What happened to DirectoryPlus.com?
DirectoryPlus.com is still there and will still function as it always has for the foreseeable future.

What if I get a bad review?
Bad reviews happen, its part of life. The great thing about BuzzTown.com is that, as a business owner, you can comment on that bad review.  Follow up and find out what you can do better. Remember, it’s not what the review says, but how you respond, that will set you apart from the competition.

What if I get a “bogus” review?
BuzzTown regularly checks reviews to make sure they are valid. If you are concerned a review doesn’t follow the Review Policy, contact BuzzTown and the review will be examined. If the review does indeed violate the Review Policy, it will be taken down and the offending user may be suspended or banned from BuzzTown.

How do I search for things?
There are a couple of ways. The easiest is to simply type what you are looking for in the search bar at the top of the page. Type anything you want; dinner, Carver Brewing, shoes, whatever you can think of, we’ll find it for you. Once you have your search results, you can browse through them alphabetically, by popularity, by number of reviews or by deals. Think Google on a local scale.

The second method is to click “browse businesses” on the main title bar which will take you to the different headings in the directory (very similar to the traditional phonebook method).  Here, you can browse till your heart’s content.

What’s that orange thermometer?
The orange thermometer is the Heat-o-Meter.  It is a way to determine who’s hot in the community.  Hotness is based on such things as:  number of reviews, high reviews, comments on reviews, page visits, content on advertiser’s page and other “secret” measurements.  The hotter your Heat-o-Meter the higher a business ranks in their category.

How do I get a video/photo?
Once you join BuzzTown you can post videos for free.  Getting a video is up to you.  You can film it yourself if you have a camera and video editing software. Then follow the tutorial on how to upload. You can hire a video production company like Animas Media or you can hire BuzzTown’s video productions staff to film your video.  If you would like to find out more about having a video made, just see the BuzzTown store.

How do I upload my own videos and photos?
Within your profile, either business or personal, there is an option on the left side to upload photos. Simple click and find the appropriate photo on your computer and click upload.

How can I post a review?
 Create a BuzzTown user account, it’s free.  Login, then search for the business you would like to review.  Click on the post review button.  Write whatever your heart wants to say about that business, within the Review Policy guidelines of course, proof-read your review and then post your review to the world. We place an emphasis on good, clean relevant content so if you have any questions about your review, see the Review Policy. All reviews found to violate the policy will be removed.

How do --Can I edit/change my profile/avatar?
On the left side of your profile will be your control panel. Within that panel will be an option to either "change avatar photo" or "change logo". Once you click, you will be prompted to select a picture from your computer. Once the image is selected click submit.

Are reviews anonymous?
 You must create an account to review local businesses.  However, your account can be as anonymous as you would like.  To others looking at your review, only your username is displayed.  You choose how much other information to display.
