Heat Wave a Coming

Do you ever get confused between the different types of air conditioners? If so you are not alone!  Some of the most common kinds of air conditioners are A/C units (central air) and evaporative cooler (swamp cooler).
Have you ever walked into a store, hospital or large commercial building and thought WOW its way cooler in here.  That's probably because the building or home has an A/C unit or central air unit.  A/C units help to keep the indoor atmosphere at a lower more constant temperature along with a lower absolute humidity.  A/C units use re-circulating air from within the building, just like your vehicle does when you push the button that shows an arrow of air circling around inside an outline of a vehicle; they do this by the removal of heat from the inside air.  Small or large homes and buildings have an A/C unit to help keep them at a more constant temperature and provide a more comfortable environment.
In an area of high humidity that can have problems with mold or mildew, an A/C unit can reduce the absolute humidity in your home.  This happens when the water vapor in the air passes by the evaporator coils and condenses to a liquid for which is then gravity fed into a drain that removes the water from inside the building.
Providing a comfortable and clean environment is something you can’t always get but when you create a closed system with your air conditioner you can.  A/C units are made for all different purposes; they are used in hospitals to help keep operation rooms at a desired temperature and humidity level that is necessary for the procedure that will take place; or in a work environment that has large computer servers or equipment that needs to keep a high level of air cleanliness and control the temperature and humidity, or in a home where someone has severe allergies or needs a relatively low humidity environment.
The choice of an A/C unit really can depend on the size and/or design of your home and also from person to person.  When thinking of replacing your air conditioner make sure to research and talk to a professional if any questions should arise. Still not sure if an A/C unit is for you?

Stay tuned for more information on evaporative cooler (swamp coolers)…
