While Backcountry Experience is will stocked with quality out door equipment it is the excellent customer service that most impresses me. I'm a long-time customer with a beat up ancient discount card. They sill honor it which I appreciate a lot!

Always the best service willing to help out and they have a great backroom area with cut price deals, always something special happening and the easiest parking for a outdoor store in Durango. They are right next to the river trail, crikey the only thing they don't have is free coffee. Angelina must have caught someone having a rough morning. I've used them for sixteen great years! I will always shop there. thanks to all at BCX

I recently went into the Backcountry Experience location at Purgatory to buy a pair of Loki gloves. I happily bought them and went on my way, but within a week of the purchase the gloves had a rip in them as I would see as a manufacturer's defect. I went back into the shop asking about what I should do, and the woman who I gather is the owner looked at me, laughed and said in the most condescending tone: "Well, what do you want me to do about it?" I asked her if there was any way I could get either a new pair or even fixed and she said she could give me some duck tape and told me it was my loss. I asked about warranties through Loki and she said it was something she had nothing to do with and that it was my problem. To say the least, I was incredibly disappointed with my experience there especially since I have always regarded Backcountry Experience as a respectable business in Durango.

I'm new to backpacking. Thad helped me get the items I needed from Scarpa boots, Ex-ped sleep pad, titanium cook pot and a Giga power stove. Thanks, Cole Hyson

I find myself in Backcountry when I need outdoor equipment, shoe fittings, referral to others. They have a fantastic selection of the brand items I prefer. Ben, Becky, Julie, and all the staff are great. I agree regarding the review about shoe fitting. They stay with it until you are happy. A strong 5 star recommendation.

I purchased ski boots late last season - only had 2 days on them. This season I noticed that the boots were still not fitting 100%. The guys at backcountry were insistent that I keep coming in until they were perfect. So I did...3 times and now they fit incredibly well. Thanks for your dedication to my feet!

There are alot of snow dorks in Southwestern Colorado. Maybe more per capita than anywhere else in the US. Typically if these snowdorks want any type of snowdorkology equipment, they have to order it from the web from some far off company. Way to keep it local Backcountry! It's great to see a local shop stocking a full line of snow pit kits, thermometers, rulers, along with the normal backcountry stuff. I've never seen as large a supply of backcountry snow tools in stock in a local shop, anywhere. Keep up the great work Backcountry!

I have these hiking boots that have been giving me blisters. Ben Rockis really knows boot fit! He continues to help me get the ultimate fit. People like this are hard to find! Thanks for the thorough and continued assistance!
