Wonderful Exhibit!
I took my 7 and 5 year olds this weekend, and they both loved it! Particularly the Joy Cabin--wow! It was really exciting to be standing inside the oldest structure in Durango! We'll be back!

Great little museum!
The Animas Museum has a wonderful collection of photographs spanning the life of Durango and Animas City as well as a number of interesting artifacts. My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit and found it to be well worth the $4 per person entrance fee. I would recommend it to anyone who has an hour to spare.

Knowledge is cool
The Animas Museum is the place to learn about how our wonderful town came to be. They have interesting displays covering a variety of topics and a gift shop so you can have your own piece of local history.

Your History and great service too!
I love the Animas Museum. Over the years. I have had many pleasant visits. Purchased some great local history and historic photography books there. You can even talk with local historians and learn about your house and how to research it's history. The gift shop is a fine place to get Christmas Presents for Reading/Durango/History buffs in your family.

A lively link to the past at the Animas Museum
What a gem of a museum. Saddles, dolls, Ute beadwork and Navajo weavings, they have it all. I like the historic photographs of old Durango and the train. The beautifully restored stone school house and the pioneer log cabin are a delight. They won a prestigious Colorado Governor's Award for the restoration and they just keep doing things right! The flower gardens, particularly the roses, are a nice place to visit at lunch. They also have a great gift shop.

A very curious place for sure
You never know what to expect when you walk into any small town museum except it may be stuffy and boring. NOT SO with the Animas Museum tucked away in the quaint neighborhood that used to be known as Animas City before it became a part of Durango. Check out the schoolroom, the cabin, and all the exhibits. Very rich in history, the research that went into all of this is IMMENSE. Thanks to all who made me feel welcome.

Bring Your Curiosity
Every town (even Gila Bend) has a little museum, but our is stuffed with a rich history, our history. If you trapse in and out of the stores and restaurants on main ave without thinking about the people who came before us, you need the Animas Museum. This town has a rich history and it is stored at Animas Museum. Apart from all the cool artifacts, come in to checkout the great collection of history books. The best part is that the place is staffed by historians and history buffs. Do you want to know the story of your house or office building, just ask.
