Durango Brewing Company has a brand new beer. Unveiled last Friday at the American Homebrewers Association Rally at Ska Brewing Co.’s World Headquarters, about 50 home brewers (many local but some from as far away as Tennessee) had a chance to try Durango Brewing Co.’s newest beer, Motivator. According to brewer Damon Scott the beer that night was as fresh as it gets, filtered and kegged that very day. Motivator is a very well balanced Scottish style ale, it’s malty but not overly so like some Scottish style ales can be, that comes in around 5.7% ABV. In addition to being brewed right here in Durango, the barley comes from Colorado Malting Company in Alamosa.
Motivator is now on tap at Durango Brewing Company’s tasting room at 3000 Main Ave. It will also be available around town in 22oz bottles. Scott noted that it isn’t often Durango Brewing Co. releases a new beer, according to their website this will be their tenth beer (they have five regular year round beers and four seasonal brews). At this point it’s not clear where Motivator will fit into their lineup, but Scott said if it does well it will probably stick around.
So head on over to Durango Brewing Co.’s tap room or your favorite liquor store and give Motivator a shot, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
