SNOW MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR HOME OWNER ASSOCIATIONS
Winter Parking can be a Serious Issue for any Association. Here are some quick pointers:
(1) Have a plan to stage/ stack your snow for later removal from the site.
(2) Review your plan before the first snow with your selected contractor on the site.
(3) Identify previous problems areas during your review with your contractor (i.e. instruct your contractor to mark fire hydrants, open roadway entrances, utility boxes, roadway lighting with snow markers, if markers are damage or removed during snow season instruct contractor to remark between storms).
(4) Notify your homeowners of their responsibilities (i.e. remove cars early in the day so snow removal equipment can clear the parking area quickly and efficiently before evening freezing temperatures).
(5) Make sure that gas lines, utility boxes, propane t’s are protected with well markers steel bollards .
(6) Keep your roof clear of snow and ice. Your roof is designed to shed water faster than the material can absorb it. In the event that 3 to 6 feet of snow remains on your roof for 3 to 5 months there is a high probability that exterior roof damage will occur at the least to guttering, roof edge and roofing and also that interior damage will likely occur as a result of ice damming over long periods of time.
